I know a guy that moved a lot of EV product and dropped the line because there was a significant decrease in quality when they moved from Michigan to the factory in Arkansas. Second, their factory has moved three times in the last ten years. I don't care too much, because no manufacturer has been able to avoid going global. This is no longer the case, and the buyer should beware if that's what they're looking for. The Mexico comment is in response to two things - first, that for a long time EV advertised heavily that their product was superior because it was built in the US. I can't find a link at the moment, but JBL may have re-branded some QSC amplifiers in the mid to late 80's.

Can they ship a recone kit for an 8 year old speaker within 48 hours? Do they use odd size speakers and horn drivers that can't be replaced with other speakers should a factory replacement not exist? (not recommended practice, I know, but sometimes.) Are they generally designed to be field-serviceable? These are questions someone selling a long term service contract should know the answers to. Anybody?.ДЄre you saying that like it's a bad thing? How much of QSC's product is made in America? (.time passes.) Somehow I got the idea that there was a low end amp sold by both Crown and QSC that was the same amp in a cosmetically different enclosure. I'm pretty sure there is/was come connection between them, and I will be racking my brain to remember where I heard that. Just didn't want to lose money unnecessarily on an inferior product. I've personally warrantied products before, and it's become a big selling point for my company, as well as a great revenue stream. As, for the warranty, he wants 5 years parts and labor, and most of the wholesalers I work with sell up to 3. My BS alarm was tingling.softly, but I wanted some more info before committing. I'm also asking for reference material, trying to avoid anecdotal or further hearsay evidence. In response to that, I'm reaching out a larger community of audio pros for more information. I have zero personal experience with any problems with their gear, but I'm not far removed from people who have sworn off the brand, guys whose opinions I respect.

Including the owner of the largest production company in my region, my sales rep, and 2 other pro audio business owners that I mix for who have about 500k in gear each. I've heard from friends in the pro audio industry that EV has gone downhill. Posted this to another reply in this thread: We are looking to add another rig to our inventory and EV is on the approved list. If anyone out there has heard about EV having issues, I'd love to hear about it. Have you set a price? What are the speakers being used for? Are you supplying the rest of the system or does the customer already have an amp, mixer, processing, etc. How long is the warranty the customer wants to buy? Have you sold one before? Who wrote it? Did your lawyer check it out? Lots of outfits sell service contracts which cover labour for repairs and maintenance, but if you are actually extending or superseding the manufacturers warranty on materials and defects you are sailing into dangerous waters. And if you do convince the customer to go with QSC and their is an issue, you'll never hear the end of it or you'll lose a customer. Besides, even with cheap stuff, as long as they are not abused speakers last a long time, so unless you're selling a 20 year warranty, you'll be fine either way. Their own reps are rebelling because they're using cheap Chinese components from the Behringer factory. Look at the shitstorm hitting Turbosound. If EV started using crap components, their competitors would be shouting it from the rooftops. It might be JBL stuff, it might be Chinese mystery stuff. God knows what components are and what availability of re-cone kits and diaphragms will be in a few years. I haven't heard any complaints since they were bought. EV has always been great for service, and maintain parts availability longer than anyone else in the speaker business except maybe Meyer. People are trying to sell me stuff all the time and crap on other guys stuff, but nobody has crapped on EV stuff.
